After refueling in Portland VELLA GULF remained in the Puget sound area training escort carrier personnel until late March 1946.she then sailed to southern California. The ship then turned and headed for Tacoma, Washington to begin deactivation at Todd Pacific Shipyard.Finally sailing to Bremerton Naval Shipyard April 7, 1946 where she was placed in reserve. |
